Master’s Tournament is one of the popular professional Golf tournament loaded with thousands of spectators, where roars are visible all across the Augusta National club. Ryder Cup is all well known to have maximum spectators but this the 2020 event has been postponed from September until 2021 mainly due to the safety concerns of the spectators.
According to the news sources, it is expected that the Augusta National will go without fans or patrons, at the 2020 Masters rescheduled from its usual spot in April to November.
It was on Wednesday the officials of Augusta National revealed that the “no patrons” will be allowed on-site, which is a piece of sad news not only to the lucky few who have coveted tickets for the tournament but also to the city of Augusta which mainly depends on the annual revenue gathered from selling tickets of the tournament.
Augusta National Chairman after confirming the tournament’s rescheduling program from its traditional April date to November 12-15 said he would welcome “all existing ticket holders to enjoy the excitement of Masters week”, as long as they monitor the state of the coronavirus pandemic from the health officials.
But the situation in the city of Georgia is more concerning with more active coronavirus cases in Florida and California.
The Mayor of Augusta too anticipated that the club will restrict spectators at the tournament, however, until last week nothing has been revealed from Augusta National officials since the event was postponed back in the spring. The 2007 Masters champion, Zach Johnson also said that he really can’t believe a Master’s champion without patrons.
The PGA tour which is rescheduled to commence in July has not yet confirmed its permission to allow fans to events, a decision that will carry on through its season finale at the Tour championship.
In the history, the first major championship of 2020, The PGA championship last week witnessed no fans and the U.S open which is scheduled in September at Winged foot will also be played without spectators.
However, there is good news for Augusta National 2020 ticket holders as they will be guaranteed with the same tickets for the upcoming 2021 Masters event.
